The word content can mean so many different things, but for the sake of this specific article, let’s refer to content as words that are written for an article, written for blogs, written on social media platforms and anything else you might be publishing online. Content is used for many different reasons, but the most common; to let people know who you are, what you do, what you can do for them and let them know if they should be a part of your business or product or not. Is writing content easy? Heck no. Can it be incredibly beneficial? Yes!

Any content you write should always have a call to action or intent. The point to writing a good piece of content is because you want the content to be able to “do” something or turn someone who is reading it to a different place. Examples could include an article about dog leashes and then at the end of the content including something like a website, Facebook URL or sometimes a specific product. It doesn’t always have to be super promotional though. An even better example would be a twitter post, something like Apple has on one of their Tweets “iPhone 6 Specs and Release Date Set! it reels people in with something they may want (information, release date and specs on the phone) with a simple URL.

– Content should always be interesting and it should give people an answer to a need they are having. Just like with the call to action, your content should be written so that it answers a question or a need a person is having. For example, if you are a pest control website and people are wondering about the different kinds of ants and how to identify them, they might come to your website because they want to know about the different species of ants, what they look like and how to get rid of them. Pretty self-explanatory.

– Good content is always readable, makes sense and does not have any errors. Bad content is usually written in a rushed manner, does not make sense and usually does have errors. It might seem unfair, but readers that read content that doesn’t make sense or worse has a ton of spelling and grammatical errors can turn people away. I’ve been victim to this exact instance. I visit a website that seems to have the information I need, I read through the first few sentences and find 6 really horrible mistakes. My thoughts: Wow, this person couldn’t even spend the time to write this correctly. How unprofessional. In some instances it has made me annoyed that they wasted my time. In other instances, I swear I’ll never visit the site again. This is not a one-time deal either. A lot of other people feel the same way. If you cannot write your own content or come up with good ideas to write good content, hire someone to do it for you. There are writers to help you with content and there are also SEO specialists to help you figure out your keywords. Personally, I’d rather spend a few bucks and have it done right!

– Multimedia is important. Some people want to just write the blog and get it over with. But, your competitors might be adding in extra multimedia to mark their article seem inviting, interesting, even colorful. Perhaps next time you write a blog you should consider this option and see what happens. You might be surprised! Just remember to either buy stock photos or add multimedia that is not copy written.

– Add titles to all of your blogs! Yes, this is also an important aspect that some people either forget about or just don’t care. Titles should be more than 3 words, should include what the blog is about and possibly include a keyword such as What Does An SEO Specialist in NJ Do?, How Does A Caterer Design A Menu?, Is A Entlebucher Mountain Dog The Dog For You? And so on and so forth. When doing blogs, also remember to add keywords for SEO reasons.

Hopefully some of these small but helpful tips can help you create good sounding content, that is also informative and formatted correctly. Just remember: Not everyone is a writer, and that’s okay! If you have trouble with writing content or blurbs or you need help with ideas that will not only bring more interest to your readers but bring more visitors SEO wise, ask around and see if you can find a few good writers and a good digital marketing company to work with you on your content projects and strategies.
